Final listening session held as work continues for diocesan synod

A pair of decorated cakes added a celebratory spirit, but for those in attendance, a workman-like demeanor fueled discussions Oct. 21 at a Diocese of Dallas synodal listening session at Cristo Rey Dallas College Preparatory School. The gathering marked the final of 30 listening sessions over nearly two-and-a-half years, planned as part of the preparatory phase of the Diocese of Dallas Synod.

Prince of Peace Catholic School named a 2023 National Blue Ribbon School

Blue and white balloons were flying, and students, faculty and families were loudly cheering on Tuesday, Sept. 19, as the U.S. Department of Education announced that Prince of Peace Catholic School has officially been named a 2023 National Blue Ribbon School. With this year’s recognition, Prince of Peace is now a three-time National Blue Ribbon School (2006, 2016, 2023).

Pope to young people: To tackle life’s ups and downs, look to the elderly

The Gospel calls Christians to bring the elderly to the center of their lives and away from the margins of families, politics and financial markets that banish them as “unprofitable waste” in society, Pope Francis said. “Let it not happen that by pursuing the myths of efficiency and performance at full speed we become unable to slow down to accompany those who struggle to keep up,” he said in his homily at a Mass for World Day for Grandparents and the Elderly in St. Peter’s Basilica July 23.
