Workshop offers schools strategies for reunification after crises

More than 60 participants including administrators and staff from several Diocese of Dallas Catholic schools, law enforcement personnel, first responders, and others came together Aug. 1 for a training on how to quickly but efficiently and safely reunite students with their families in the case of an unexpected campus evacuation or release.

Student’s club inspires community service among peers

“When I think of faith, I think of service,” said Isabella Martinez, a 17-year-old rising senior at Bishop Dunne Catholic School, as she reflected on her school’s Community Service Club. Martinez founded the club in the fall of 2023 to offer Catholic high school students like herself the opportunity to live their faith through service to their local community.

Tennison loves to dance, sing, and, most especially, play tennis. Sometimes, she feels anxious—but she knows the tools she can use to help herself feel calm. Tennison is an athlete with Down syndrome. She’s also a character in a book, a creation of John Paul II High School graduating senior Nataly Montemayor.

Bishop Lynch High School announced May 24 that Alex Cantillo has been named to the role of director of athletics for the school, effective June 17. Cantillo brings a wealth of experience and a passion for student-athlete development in alignment with Bishop Lynch’s dedication to excellence in education and athletics.

Board for Mother Teresa Catholic School holds its first meeting

Members of the board for Mother Teresa Catholic School, a new Diocese of Dallas campus being developed in Collin County, held their inaugural board meeting April 24 at Our Lady of Angels Catholic Parish in Allen. Mother Teresa Catholic School, tentatively scheduled to open in the fall of 2026, will be located on 26 acres at the northwest corner of Independence Parkway and Main Street in Frisco.
