History was made Nov. 15 for St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church as the McKinney parish received its first grant award from The Catholic Foundation.

Texas artists 18 years of age and older have until Sept. 5 to submit one original work of art and vie for the $5,000 grand prize in the 19th annual Catholic Foundation Art on the Plaza competition.
The Catholic Foundation Award, which is the highest honor the foundation offers, was presented to Georgia and Marc Lyons on Feb. 10 at the Hilton Anatole in Dallas during the 41st Annual Catholic Foundation Award Dinner. Both the dinner and the award stood as celebrations of local Catholic philanthropy and service, and more than a thousand attendees gathered for the occasion.
