The 635, a Diocese of Dallas ministry initiative for young adults, reached a milestone on March 11 as it welcomed more than 500 participants to its largest gathering yet. The event, held for the first time at the Lexus Box Garden in Legacy West in Plano, was groundbreaking—not only for its size but also for its public setting, allowing the broader community to witness and engage with the Church in a new way.
It’s hard to imagine a more providential place to meet one’s spouse than at an event specifically about discerning the vocation of marriage; but that is exactly what happened for Christ the King parishioners Dr. Christian Monsalve, 33, and Julia Monsalve, 31, who met at a Faith Fitness Ministry event three years ago and have since built a life together as a young married couple.
As Isaias Salgado stood amongst a crowd making their way into the new University Catholic Center at the University of Texas at Dallas on Aug. 28, he couldn’t help but smile.
“I really can’t put into words how amazing all this is,” said Salgado, a senior neuroscience major and member of the Newman Catholic Ministry, a Catholic student organization at UTD. “It’s amazing. It’s such a blessing.”
