Parishes unite faith, ecology through grassroots creation care

Beneath the sprawling branches of surrounding trees, Gretchen Day can feel the presence of the Holy Spirit. She has always found God in his creation, the Our Lady of Angels Catholic Church parishioner said — in the plants, the animals, all those things the Creator declared “good.” So, when she has opportunities to care for the Earth, she does; and that commitment led her to the Green Team.

Plano parish notes ‘sudden’ growth in OCIA process

Over the past year, St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Plano has seen significant — and unprecedented — growth in the parish’s Order of Christian Initiation of Adults. The growth has been “sudden,” according to Director of Faith Formation Bruce Baumann, who said that the program had essentially tripled its number of participants from the year before.

Nine angelic figures, bedecked in blue and gold behind the sanctuary; magnificent ceilings, arched towards the heavens; brilliant, crystal light beaming through windows of green, blue, red; intricate Italian sculptures of faith giants, those who have gone to glory in the eternal kingdom—These are the features, not of some far away, ancient basilica but of the very near, very new church building at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Community in Plano.
