Capuchin Father Jerome Lecumberri announced that the Cursillos de Cristiandad, an apostolic movement founded in Spain in 1949, will be coming to Dallas. Centers for the movement have already been established in Waco and San Antonio. Father Lecumberri said the Dallas Cursillo Center will be housed temporarily in the old St. Patrick School on South Harwood. The first Cursillo will be offered in Spanish in September.

Bishop Thomas Tschoepe was joined by Bishop Gabriel Kap Soo Lee of Pusan, South Korea, in celebrating the naming of Dallas Korean Catholic Church after St. Andrew Kim, Korea’s first priest and martyr. The Korean community has been meeting in the old St. Joseph Church on Swiss Avenue for eight years.
Ground was broken for a new St. Rita Church July 31, the Feast of St. Ignatius Loyola, the founder of the Society of Jesus which staff’s the North Dallas Parish. The octagonal shaped sanctuary will seat 900 people according to Jesuit Father John Heaney, pastor.
